DONOR EVENING - THE GIFT TO OUR CHILDREN

To help families of sick children in addition to face financial difficulties in order that their little ones could be provided with treatment, Palilula Municipality of Nis launched a humanitarian campaign "Let's help our children." The first activity under this action was the donor evening, which was held last weekend at the plateau near the fountain at the Square of King Milan. Dedicated account for payment of donor funds 840-2879741-16 has been opened in Niš Municipality of Palilula.

President of the Municipality of Palilula Boban Džunić invited the socially responsible companies, enterprises, and all citizens, to show good will, more solidarity and support to vulnerable children and families in need. "I call on all city officials and representatives from other municipalities to join us. We sent invitation letters to all public enterprises and institutions, public institutions and expect that they respond to the campaign. This is only the beginning of our humane mission, which has no time limit and will last as long as needed to be, said Džunić and remarked: - More than 20 families from our community were contacting us and asked for help because of the problem in the treatment of their children. We have found that it is really a big problem. It is about the lives of children aged three to five years, so urgent action is needed to get involved and help these kids.

Donors evening was attended by representatives of Nis organizations, enterprises and institutions, Diocese of Nis, representatives of Municipality of Pantalej, Director of PUC "Mediana", Dragan Radosavljevic who was among the first to sign the Grant Agreement. "I believe that all public companies in the city should be honored and under obligation to join this humane action. For us, some people give the last penny so that the city could be cleaner, so it is normal that "Mediana" give something back to the citizens and help the poor citizens of Nis whose children are sick, said Radosavljevic. He called on other public companies to look up to "Mediana".

Humanitarian action of Municipality of Palilula is supported by the threads of culture workers; eminent artist, recognized Serbian architect, cartoonist and painter Aleksandar Blatnik, children's poet, a writer for children and adults, Rusomir Arsic, Miroljub Jovanovic- Mika Tambura (Lutajuca Srca), TV Belle amie, Narodne Novine Nis- National daily newspaper.

“It is a great honor to be a part of this humanitarian action, which carries a wonderful message. We have all gathered to work together for the good of little children that happened to have something called the disease and what is called poverty. Children deserve something good, so I want to show something beautiful through my poems and to teach them that with goodness  in life we could achieve anything,” said poet Rusomir Arsic.

To organize this humanitarian action Palilula Municipality decided after months of visiting family activities in the settlements of Municipality of Palilula. They met with families whose kids are suffering and in need of medical care, and that their parents can not provide because they are in a difficult financial situation. One of these children is a five-year old  Vuk Jovanovic, who suffers from a rare disease which was diagnosed as NEK - bowel resection. His colon and most of the small intestine is removed and his fight for life continues. This boy needs special care, treatment and specific diet, and any support for his family will be valuable. The situation with a little three-year-Dorothea Mitic, who lives in Marble and from birth has heart problems was simmilar. And here is the need of finding a solution to extend the life of the child and overcome administrative barriers.

Grant funds in the campaign "Let's help our children" can be paid for signing a donator contract or direct deposit into the dedicated account: 840-2879741-16 in Niš,  Municipality of Palilula.
